I operated the ARRL DX CW contest in February 1993 from my home in Maartensdijk, The Netherlands with my Dutch call PA3GCQ. I wasn't often QRV because of RFI/TVI issues with the neighbours but I wanted to put in at least one contest effort whilst living in Holland. The solution was to operate QRP with my old Japanese multi-band vertical on the edge of the back yard and the dike that separated us from the farmer's field to the west. QRP worked - no TVI complaints ... but likewise not many QSO's in the log and some effort in making many that I did work.
You can't imagine how surprised I was when QST came out and I found I had placed 6th place in The Netherlands and finished 9th in the world in the DX QRP category. Many thanks to the YCCC for their support as much of my log reads like a YCCC roster!
